It has begun! The first couple of shows are behind and the feeling is just great. I could not really imagine how much I missed being on the road until we finally were there. It is almost two years since I last played with my own band. I think that’s one of the reasons why I felt that there were a bit of extra butterfly wings in my stomach. All thou the songs have been heavily played in the radios, you never know how they have reached the people. But there’s no short cuts.. We just need to visit every town

The band is bran new and but the feeling inside it has been just awesome. Even if the places haven’t been quite “sold out”, the atmosphere has been extremely cool. And the band works like a clock  In Virgin Oil there were even some folks that had travelled all the way from Germany to see our show(!) It’s really amazing to see how much people really care. We are all really taken about this all!

In Joensuu one could already see that the band is getting experienced Yeah I know, just after two shows.. But seriously, at least I felt more home in my “new role”. It was also so great to see that there was a nice crowd present and some even knew the words to our songs!

In the morning Lauri was missing for a short period of time but eventually he was found and we managed to hit the road in time. The night was a bit short thou, since we needed to drive Lauri to a cruise that left from Helsinki in the afternoon. Luckily it was Seiska’s(a Finnish yellow magazine) party cruise so he’ll get his rest on the boat Six hours in the car and carrying all the cases back our practice place made the group “a bit” drained.. But happy.. All and all, it was a really promising start to this tour. I can’t really wait for the next shows..

The week ahead is looking pretty interesting as well. On Tuesday we are invited to pay a visit at the Habbo-hotel in Helsinki. I’ve been there once and it was really cool. I might just need to update my figure a bit The folks at the Habbo hotel are also really cool so it will be great for sure. On Wednesday we get to play a small acoustic set at Wanha. We will also celebrate our dear friend, Antti Rikkinen’s, anniversary of getting elder. I wonder how that will end? The week will end with a show at the legendary Louhela Jam. It’s a pretty nostalgic moment for us since it’s a traditional festival that is located near Myyrmäki, where me and Lauri grew up. For one reason or another we both have never had a chance to climb that stage before. That will be soo cool

Auf Tour… endlich !

Es hat angefangen! Die ersten Shows liegen nun hinter uns und das Gefühl ist einfach großartig. Ich habe mir gar nicht vorstellen können, wie sehr ich es vermisst habe, auf Tour zu sein, bis es dann endlich soweit war. Es ist jetzt beinahe zwei Jahre her, seit ich zum letzen Mal mit meiner eigenen Band gespielt habe. Ich denke, das ist einer der Gründe, warum ich noch ein paar Schmetterlinge extra im Bauch hatte. Obwohl unsere Songs oft im Radio gespielt wurden, weißt du letzten Endes nie, wie sie tatsächlich bei den Leuten ankommen. Und da gibt’s keine Werbung, also müssen wir einfach überall spielen J

Die Band ist noch ganz neu, aber die Chemie zwischen uns ist einfach toll. Und auch wenn die Shows nicht komplett ausverkauft waren, so war die Atmosphäre doch extrem cool. Und zu dem Gig im Virgin Oil kamen sogar extra Leute den ganzen Weg von Deutschland nach Finnland gereist, nur um unsere Show zu sehen (!) Es ist wirklich beeindruckend zu sehen, wie sehr wir den Leuten am Herzen liegen. Wir sind darüber sehr gerührt!

In Joensuu konnte man dann schon sehen, dass die Band echt Routine bekommt. Ja, ich weiß, nach nur zwei Shows. Aber ernsthaft, ich habe mich wirklich „daheim“ gefühlt in meiner „neuen Rolle“. Es war auch großartig, dass da doch eine Menge Leute anwesend waren, und manche von ihnen kannten sogar schon unsere Songtexte!

Am Morgen dann vermissten wir Lauri für eine kurze Zeit, aber letzten Endes tauchte er doch wieder auf und wir schafften es, unseren Zeitplan einigermaßen einzuhalten. Die Nacht war ein bisschen kurz, insbesondere im Hinblick darauf, dass wir Lauri noch bei einem Partyschiff abliefern wollten, welches Helsinki am Nachmittag verließ. Zum Glück handelte es sich dabei um das Seiska..s (das ist eine finnische Illustrierte) Partyschiff, und so kam er dann doch noch zu seiner wohlverdienten Pause auf dem Boot Sechs Stunden im Auto und dann noch all diese Kisten wieder zurück in unseren Proberaum zu schaffen, hatten zur Folge, dass wir uns alle ziemlich ausgelaugt fühlten. Aber glücklich. Alles in Allem war das ein sehr vielversprechender Beginn der Tour. Ich kann die nächsten Shows kaum abwarten.

Die kommende Woche wird auch sehr interessant werden. Am Dienstag werden wir dem Habbo-Hotel in Helsinki einen Besuch abstatten. Ich bin da schon einmal gewesen und es war echt cool. Ich müsste vielleicht meine Vorstellungen davon ein wenig auf den neuesten Stand bringen Die Leute im Habbo-Hotel sind auch sehr cool und es wird sicher großartig werden. Am Mittwoch werden wir einen kleinen Akustik-Gig im Wanha spielen. Wir werden außerdem den Geburtstag unseres lieben Freundes Antti Rikkinen feiern. Ich frage mich, wie das wohl enden wird? Die Woche wird dann mit einer Show im legendären Louhela Jam enden. Es ist ein ziemlich nostalgischer Moment für uns, insofern als dies ein traditionelles Festival ganz in der Nähe von Myyrmäki ist, wo Lauri und ich aufgewachsen sind. Aus irgendeinem Grund hatten wir beide bisher niemals die Chance, dort die Bühne zu betreten. Das wird soo cool  J

Rock on … und wir sehen uns bald!

Ero in macchina sabato, stavo guidando. Avevo la radio accesa e stava per cominciare “Himotuimmat”, la classifica di Ylex, quando ho sentito una frase: “Oggi faremo incursione nel blog dei Phoenix Effect…”. In quel momento mi è tornato in mente. Doveva essere febbraio l’ultima volta che avevo scritto sul blog. È stata una primavera talmente frenetica che ho completamente tralasciato di aggiornarlo. Ora diamoci da fare in quella sezione…
Che cosa è successo nella vita dei Phoenix Effect in questi ultimi mesi? Come ho già detto altre volte, una nuova band, comunque sia, parte sempre da zero. Tecnicamente, questo significa un milione di piccole cose da fare e tre compiti maggiori… è un lavoro enorme per una sola persona, e a volte sembrava che le 24 ore della giornata non bastassero. Fortunatamente ora ci sono più spalle a sostenere il peso, e sono sicuro che daremo inizio a questa festa…
Alcuni di voi avranno notato che i Phoenix Effect sono finalmente “pronti”. Per me i Phoenix Effect sono sempre stati una band, solo che fino ad ora c’era stato un unico membro fisso. Eh… capisco che sia una logica complicata da seguire, ma per me era difficile vedermi come un artista solista. Penso che una rock band sia sempre la somma di tutti i suoi componenti. Quindi in futuro sentirete sicuramente un po’ di nuove vibrazioni nella nostra musica. Ora siamo in quattro nella band: Pyry, Lauri, Anton ed io. Pyry è stato coinvolto nel progetto da quasi un anno, e lo sentite suonare già nell’album. Ha anche contribuito ad alcune canzoni, un esempio è “King see no evil” che io e Pyry abbiamo scritto insieme. Lauri lo conoscevo di sfuggita già da un po’ di tempo, e quando Jakke (che ha suonato con noi la batteria in un paio di live) mi ha suggerito di chiamarlo, non c’è stato bisogno di pensarci due volte. Tutto poi è successo molto velocemente. Mi sa che abbiamo preso la decisione un paio di settimane prima del concerto per l’uscita del disco, e abbiamo avuto tempo per provare solo due volte prima dello show. Questo la dice lunga sulla professionalità di Lauri. L’ultimo a unirsi alla band è stato Anton, che in precedenza era stato il cantante dei Feiled. Dopo lo scioglimento della band, ha deciso di tornare al suo strumento originario: la batteria. Benché abbia davvero una bella voce, devo dire che non ricordo di aver sentito nessun altro con un beat più tosto del suo. Ora sono un paio di settimane che suoniamo insieme e posso dire che c’è del ROCK nell’aria! Abbiamo anche già provato un paio di nuove canzoni, e sono veramente forti. Forse sperimenteremo qualche pezzo nuovo questa estate. Non si sa mai… Comunque, diamo un caldo benvenuto nella band a tutti i ragazzi.
A questo punto devo anche commentare qualcosa di meno piacevole. Come alcuni di voi sapranno, i Sunrise Avenue hanno un nuovo album in uscita, e durante la promozione del disco ci sono state alcune affermazioni piuttosto strane in merito alla causa in corso. Non ho intenzione di discutere pubblicamente la cosa, ma devo correggere le false informazioni messe in circolo. Non si tratta di una causa per diffamazione, e i numeri in gioco non sono nemmeno lontanamente a sette cifre. Il tutto riguarda semplicemente compensi e stipendi non pagati. E non si capisce perché qualcosa di questo tipo debba essere raccontato, dato che l’intero caso è pubblico, e chiunque sia interessato può andare a vedere gli atti del tribunale.
Ma ora qualcosa di totalmente diverso… I concerti estivi sono dietro l’angolo (Yes!). Inizieremo da Vaasa tra meno di due settimane e tutta la compagnia è impaziente di salire sul palco. Io da parte mia posso dire che in un certo senso sono piuttosto nervoso, dato che è un po’ una novità per me. Ma poi, di nuovo, il gruppo sta funzionando davvero bene e onestamente posso stare tranquillo per tutto. Il fatto è che ho atteso il momento dei concerti per molto tempo, e adesso è finalmente giunta l’ora. Spero che quanti più possibile tra voi possano venire a vederci dal vivo questa estate. Ale co działo się w życiu Phoenix Effect w tych ostatnich miesiącach? Jak powiedziałem wcześniej, nie ważne co by się działo, nowy zespół zaczyna zawsze od zera. Technicznie rzecz biorąc oznacza to milion małych zadań i trzy ogromne.. Jest to bardzo dużo pracy dla jednej osoby, i czasem ma się uczucie, że 24 godziny dziennie to za mało. Na szczęście teraz jest o wiele więcej ludzi, którzy wezmą ten ciężar na swoje barki, więc jestem pewny, że rozkręcimy tę imprezę…

Niektórzy z was mogą stwierdzić, że Phoenix Effect jest nareszcie „gotowy”. Dla mnie PHNX był zawsze zespołem, a od teraz ma także tylko jednego więcej członka zespołu. Heh.. Widzę, że ta logika jest trochę ciężka, ale ciężko jest mi wyobrazić siebie jako solowego artystę. Uważam, że zespół rockowy jest zawsze sumą tych wszystkich składników. W tym świetle usłyszycie na pewno nowe brzmienie w produkcji w przyszłości. W zespole jest teraz czterech chłopaków: Pyry, Lauri, Anton i ja. Pyry jest zaangażowany prawie od roku i możecie także usłyszeć jego grę na nagraniach. Pyry wkłada także coś od siebie w niektóre piosenki z albumu, tak np.: „King see no evil” jest czymś co ja i Pyry napisaliśmy razem. Znałem na odległość Luriego już od jakiegoś czasu. Kiedy Jakke ( chłopak, który grał z nami na perkusji w kilku występach) zasugerował, żebym do niego zadzwonił, nie było potrzeby na dłuższe zastanawianie się. Cały proces trwał niesamowicie szybko. Myślę, że podjeliśmy decyzję dwa tygodnie przed premierowym występem, i mieliśmy czas, aby zrobić dwie próby przed występem. To pokazuje wszystko to jakim profesjonalistą jest Lauri. Ostatni do zespołu doszedł Anton, który wcześniej był wokalistą grupy Failed. Po tym jak zespół się rozpadł, Anton postanowił powrócić to swojego instrumentu: perkusji. Jednocześnie ma świetny głos, i muszę powiedzieć, że jeszcze nigdy nie słyszałem tak mocnego głosu. Ćwiczyliśmy id kilku tygodni i muszę powiedzieć, że w powietrzu pachnie ROCK’iem! Próbowaliśmy także kilku nowych piosenek i uważam, że brzmią one niesamowicie dobrze. Może spróbujemy kilku nowych rzeczy tego lata. Nigdy nie wiadomo… Ale mimo wszystko powitajmy ciepło wszystkich chłopaków w zespole.

Na tym etapie muszę skomentować coś mniej wesołego. Niektórzy z was mogą myśleć, że SA wydają płytę i podczas promocji wyszły dość dziwne oświadczenia na temat toczącej się sprawy w sądzie. Nie mam zamiaru dyskutować o tym publicznie, ale muszę poprawić kilka błędnych informacji. Proces nie jest o zniesławienie, a dane w tej sprawie nie są nawet blisko siedmiu cyfr. Cała sprawa toczy się wokół niezapłaconych opłat i wynagrodzeń. Trudno zrozumieć, dlaczego zaczęło się takie coś, podczas kiedy cała sprawa jest publiczna i każdy kto jest zainteresowany może pójść do sądu i sprawdzić wszystkie fakty.

Ale teraz coś zupełnie innego… Letnie występy już niedługo (tak!). Zaczynamy w Vaasa w mniej niż dwa tygodnie i cały zespół czeka bardzo cierpliwie na postawienie sceny. Muszę powiedzieć, że jestem trochę zdenerwowany koncertami ponieważ jest to mała nowość dla mnie. Ale po tym jak zespół pracował mogę szczerze być spokojny o wszystko. Tak naprawdę długo czekałem na występy i w końcu nadszedł ten czas. Mam nadzieję, że będziecie mogli zobaczyć nasze występy na żywo tego lata. Dodajemy wciąż nowe daty występów więc zerkajcie często do sekcji „Tour” na naszej stronie.

Pamiętajcie, aby zapisać się to biuletynu PE. W ten sposób będziecie mogli dowiedzieć się o nowościach jako pierwsi. Spakuję moją torbę i wybiorę się do jaskini. Do zobaczenia na wszystkich koncertach!

We were more or less finished with the recordings of the album a week before Christmas. Poor mr. Captain then spent the holidays mixing the songs so they would be ready for mastering in the middle of January. Anyway, he was too anxious to leave it hanging so he saved his vacations for later. I have to say that my “time-off” followed pretty much the same agenda. It was pretty hard to just stop thinking about all the final tweaks and tunings when we were so close to the goal. All and all, “we” made the deadline and right now we are waiting for the CD’s from the factory. I wonder how it feels to hold it in my hands for the very first time…(!) Remember to place your pre-order at the webshop so you will get yours in the very first wave. And remember, the official webshopwill deliver it to you anywhere on the planet. The pre-orders will be shipped on the 17th so in Finland you should get it on the 18th and the rest of the world soon after.

We are also preparing for the first shows now. You might have seen that the official release party will be at the Club Semifinal on the 17th of Feb. It’s an intimate club for only little over 100 people so you might want to get your ticket soon… We’ve also been give an opportunity to stretch out legs a bit the week before at Gloria, Helsinki. The occasion is free and it’s for all ages so come by and check out us along with a couple other cool bands. We will play a small set of 5-6 songs starting 19:30.

As a last thing for now I want to use the opportunity to send extra special greetings to all the lovely people who have shown interest to join our Street promotion gang. You are really priceless

Der Februar steht unmittelbar bevor und ich finde endlich die Gelegenheit, mich hinzusetzen und ein wenig zu schreiben.

Wir waren eine Woche vor Weihnachten mehr oder weniger fertig mit den Aufnahmen für das Album.
Der arme Mr. Captain verbrachte dann seine Ferien damit, die Songs zu mixen, damit sie so Mitte Januar fertig für das Mastering waren. Irgendwie war er viel zu bestrebt und gierig darauf, die Dinge am Laufen zu halten, so dass er seinen Urlaub auf einen späteren Zeitpunkt verschoben hat. Ich muss sagen, dass auch meine “time-off” dem gleichen Muster gefolgt ist. Es war ziemlich schwierig, nicht mehr an all die endgültigen Abstimmungen zu denken, wo wir doch so nahe am Ziel waren. Schließlich und endlich legten “wir” einen Stichtag fest und warten im Moment auf die fertigen CD´s aus der Firma. Ich frage mich, wie es sich wohl anfühlen wird, sie zum allerersten Mal in meinen  Händen zu halten …(!) Denkt daran, Eure Vorbestellung im Web-Store zu machen, damit IHr zu den allerersten gehört, die sie erhalten. Und erinnert Euch bitte auch daran, dass der Official Web-Store sie überallhin auf diesem Planeten liefert. Die Vorbestellungen werden ab 17. Februar in Finnland ausgeliefert, so dass Ihr sie am 18. Februar bereits erhaltet und der Rest der Welt bald danach. 

Desweiteren bereiten wir uns gerade auf die ersten Shows vor. IHr habt vielleicht gesehen, dass die offizielle Release-Party am 17. Februar im Club Semifinal stattfindet. Es ist ein kleiner, familiärer Club, der  Platz für etwas mehr als 100 Leute bietet, also solltet Ihr Euch bald um Euer Ticket kümmern …
Wir haben außerdem eine weitere Gelegenheit erhalten uns zu zeigen, und zwar eine Woche vorher im “Gloria” in Helsinki. Der Eintritt ist frei und es gibt keine Altersbegrenzung, also kommt vorbei,  seht uns und ein paar andere coole Bands.  Wir werden eine kleine Auswahl von 5 - 6 Songs spielen. Anfangszeit ist 19.30 Uhr.
